During the visit, Dr. Hafizah Binti Che Hassan and her entourage attended an open class of the Sino-foreign Cooperative Nursing Program. The open class was delivered by Dr. Zaliha Harun from Lincoln University College, who gave a lecture on Lower Respiratory Infection under the course Comprehensive Nursing: Respiratory System. She elaborated on the etiology, clinical manifestations and key nursing points of lower respiratory tract infections, and combined with clinical practice to illustrate how to flexibly apply theoretical knowledge in nursing practice. The integration of theory and practice enabled students to gain an all-round learning experience. Students took an active part in classroom interaction and asked questions enthusiastically, showing great passion for learning. Dr. Zaliha Harun patiently answered students’ questions on clinical nursing and delivered demonstrations to help them better understand the course content.

After the class, Dr. Hafizah Binti Che Hassan gave comments. She fully affirmed the good mental state of teachers and students. She praised Dr. Zaliha Harun for designing a compact and content-rich curriculum tailored to students’ learning status with well-grasped key knowledge points. The adoption of heuristic teaching and random group activities effectively enhanced students’ confidence in English expression. She suggested that teachers pay attention to the perspective and presentation effect of operational demonstrations, and personally demonstrated the technique of chest percussion.

Following the open class, a seminar on improving teaching quality was held between Chinese and Malaysian representatives. Both sides agreed to further strengthen teacher interaction and academic exchanges as well as resource sharing, jointly enhance the practicality and interactivity of nursing courses, and develop more high-quality courses and excellent teaching sessions. In addition, the two parties also conducted in-depth discussions on the construction of the Sino-Malaysia Yueyi Institute and the development and international promotion of curriculum standards.
