On the afternoon of May 15, the @Shaoxing “Sino-Malaysian Yueyi Institute” Exchange Event was held at Shaoxing Vocational & Technical College. As one of the featured activities of the 5th Shaoxing International Friendship Cities Conference themed @Shaoxing Dialogue with the World, the event specially invited Chen Fufang, Associate Chief Nurse and Specialist TCM Nurse from Shaoxing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, a member of the Silk Road Institute (Healthcare & Elderly Care) School-Enterprise Alliance, to give a lecture and demonstration on Fire Dragon Jar Comprehensive Moxibustion Therapy.

Leaders of the Medical School, Marcos Henry Fernando, faculty member of Lincoln University College, all teachers and students of the Traditional Chinese Medicine program, teachers and students from Lincoln University College and Krirk University, as well as practitioners and enthusiasts of traditional Chinese medicine from TCM clinics of both countries attended the event both onsite and online.

During the lecture, Chen Fufang gave an easy-to-understand introduction to the concept, structural features, working principles and efficacy of Fire Dragon Jar Comprehensive Moxibustion, and explained its indications and contraindications.

She also demonstrated the standard operating procedures on site. Her proficient skills, accurate acupoint positioning and meticulous therapeutic techniques impressed all participants greatly. Under her guidance, student representatives of the TCM program and Mr. Henry from Lincoln University College came forward to practice and experience the therapy firsthand. This session deepened participants’ understanding of the technique and aroused strong interest in traditional Chinese medical skills. Many students expressed their willingness to further learn and master Fire Dragon Jar Comprehensive Moxibustion in the future.

Teachers and students from Lincoln University College and Krirk University spoke highly of the activity. They commented that the “Yueyi Institute” exchange event not only deepened their understanding of TCM culture and promoted international academic exchanges in traditional Chinese medicine, but also allowed them to appreciate the unique charm and practical value of traditional Chinese medicine.

Integrating Shaoxing’s distinctive traditional Chinese medicine culture — Yue Medical Culture, relying on its Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Medical Studies majors, and leveraging superior resources including SXVTC’s Yue Medical Culture Inheritance Base, the national intangible cultural heritage Shaoxing School of Cold Damage Inheritance and Practice Base, and the Yue Medical Family Studio, SXVTC established Yue Medical Schools at Krirk University in March 2021 and at Lincoln University College in November 2021. By adopting an online-offline integrated model, the university regularly holds TCM knowledge lectures and training on appropriate TCM techniques, spreading TCM culture to countries along the Belt and Road and telling wonderful stories of traditional Chinese medicine in the new era.
