On the morning of today, the delegation of the “Sino-Malaysian Yueyi Institute” concluded its 10-day study and exchange program in Shaoxing and departed for Malaysia. Composed of 20 Malaysian teachers and students, the delegation participated in a series of themed activities under the theme “Learning TCM, Understanding Chinese Materia Medica: Experiencing the Unique Charm of Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture”. They gained firsthand experience of the profound heritage of TCM culture, laying a solid foundation for promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning of traditional medicine between China and Malaysia. This also marks the first immersive exchange program launched by our college after the “Sino-Malaysian Yueyi Institute” was approved as a “Belt and Road Silk Road Institute” in Zhejiang Province.

During the program, the delegation attended language courses to learn daily conversational Chinese in an interesting and interactive way. They joined calligraphy classes to appreciate the long-standing charm of Chinese calligraphy through writing strokes. The delegation also attended lectures on TCM knowledge, visited Shaoxing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and learned practical TCM techniques including moxibustion, scraping, tuina massage and acupuncture. In addition, they practiced Baduanjin, and took part in making sachets, Chinese medicinal pills and TCM medicinal meals, experiencing the profound essence of traditional Chinese medicine culture. The group visited cultural attractions such as Lanting, Lu Xun’s Native Place, Cangqiao Straight Street and Yellow Wine Town, immersing themselves in the essence of Chinese culture.

Participants of the “Sino-Malaysian Yueyi Institute” also visited our college’s Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum, Nursing Training Center, Smart City Industry-Education Integration Complex, Calligraphy Practice Base, Modern Business Service Training Center, Zhejiang Institute of General-purpose Mortar and other training bases, gaining a direct insight into the college’s teaching facilities, specialty development and industry-education integration model.

On the afternoon of May 21, Dr. Smitha Madhavan from Lincoln University College delivered lectures entitled Nursing Future: Educate and Elevate and AI in Nursing Education, broadening the international vision of teachers and students majoring in nursing at our University. Meanwhile, teachers and students of the Medical School Nursing Program organized the event “One Joint Class for Chinese and Malaysian Teachers and Students” as well as nursing skill exchange activities, facilitating mutual learning and innovation in professional nursing skills.

The short-term exchange program officially concluded on the afternoon of May 25. At the closing ceremony, Malaysian students presented elaborately produced videos and PPTs to vividly showcase their learning achievements during the visit. SXVTC issued study certificates to all participants in recognition of their active participation and outstanding performance.

Bridged by the Chinese language and bonded by traditional Chinese medicine, this program has composed a new movement for the international communication of TCM culture amid the elegance of calligraphy and the fragrance of mugwort. Going forward, both sides will build on this cooperation to deepen exchanges, jointly cultivate fruitful achievements in medical humanities education, and create a new landscape for cultural exchange and mutual learning between civilizations.
